Shelley serves as the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Coordinator for the Farmington Valley Health District, supporting preparedness planning, coordination, and response efforts across public health, healthcare, and emergency management partners. Her work focuses on strengthening readiness, supporting exercises, and improving collaboration to protect the community’s health before, during, and after emergencies.
In addition to her public health capabilities, Shelley is a career firefighter/EMT and an avid reader. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Fire and Emergency Management Administration at Oklahoma State University, where her academic interests center on how socio-economic inequities shape the vulnerability and inherent resilience of under-resourced communities during disasters and how organizational behavior patterns and traditional culture within public safety institutions influence emergency response.
Outside of work and academics, Shelley enjoys SCUBA diving and being a proud German Shepherd dog mom to her pup, Berlin.
