Staff Spotlight: Amanda Hubbard

In public health, much of the work that keeps a community healthy happens behind the scenes. At the Farmington Valley Health District (FVHD), Amanda Hubbard, Public Health Nurse, plays an important role in that daily effort by supporting residents, families, schools, healthcare facilities, and community partners with timely guidance, follow-up, and prevention-focused services.

Amanda brings a strong and well-rounded nursing background to her work at FVHD. Before joining the district, she served as a school nurse and as a service coordinator in a long-term care facility, experiences that helped shape her understanding of community health across all ages and settings. That background allows her to connect with residents and partner organizations in practical, compassionate ways.

As part of her public health nursing role, Amanda manages communicable disease follow-up, supports lead investigations, and carries out many other essential public health nurse responsibilities. Her work helps ensure that residents receive clear information, appropriate referrals, and supportive follow-up when health concerns arise. She also works closely with community partners to help prevent illness, reduce risk, and respond effectively to public health issues.

Amanda also leads several important injury-prevention and safety programs for the community. She runs A Matter of Balance and Bingocize, two fall prevention programs that help older adults build confidence, stay active, and reduce their risk of falls.

Through her clinical knowledge, thoroughness, and approachable manner, Amanda helps make public health services easier for residents and partners to understand and access. FVHD is grateful for the skill, care, and dedication she brings to the communities we serve every day.
