This skills-based training course teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of a potential mental health or substance use challenge in adults.

- How to interact with a person in crisis
- How to connect a person with help

Who:
Open to anyone 18 years and older
Format:
8 hours in person (either 1×8 hour class, or 2×4 hour classes)
This skills-based course is designed to teach participants, who regularly interact with youth ages 12 to 18, how to identify, understand, and respond to an adolescent who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
Topics Covered:
- Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)
- Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges
- How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis
- How to connect the you with help
- Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying
Who:
Open to anyone 18 years and older who regularly works with youth. Great for teachers, school staff, parents, coaches, and camp counselors.
Format:
6.5hr in person class (either 1x 6.5hr class or 2x 3.5hr classes)
This skills-based course is designed to build a powerful community of teens aged 15 to 18 by teaching them how to support a friend or classmate who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

- How to open the conversation about mental health and substance use challenges
- Common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges
- The impact of school violence and bullying on mental wellbeing
- How to seek the help of a responsible and trusted adult
Who:
Teens in grades 10-12, ages 15-18 in a setting where at least 10% of adult staff are trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid
Format:
Three 90 minute in-person classes (can be split into 6×45 minute classes but 90 minutes is preferred)
