List of Approved Testing Organizations

As part of Connecticut’s adoption of the 2013 FDA Model Food Code on July 1, 2018, the requirements for owner/manager certification will be changing.

Since 1997, Connecticut has required the employment of a Qualified Food Operator (QFO) and Designated Alternate in a Class 3 or 4 food service facility. In an effort to help operators meet this requirement, the FVHD offered monthly food safety seminars.

Effectively July 1, 2018, all facilities classified as 2, 3, or 4 will be required to employ a Certified Food Manager (formerly known as QFO.) This person must possess a valid/current certificate from an approved testing organization.

PLEASE NOTE THAT PREVIOUS ATTENDANCE AT A FVHD FOOD SAFETY SEMINAR DOES NOT SATISFY THE CERTIFIED FOOD MANAGER REQUIREMENT. IF YOU HAVE A CERTIFICATE FROM A FVHD FOOD SAFETY SEMINAR, THIS WILL NO LONGER BE VALID AS OF JULY 1, 2018. THE FVHD IS NO LONGER AN APPROVED TESTING ORGANIZATION.

Because of the impending changes, the FVHD will no longer be offering the Food Safety Seminars in their present form.
